Special Gift in
Memory
Colbert UMC
has been blessed with a very special gift of a new musical
instrument. A Yamaha Clavinova was graciously given to
Colbert UMC in memory of Dennis & Eunice Hancock by their
children.
Dennis & Eunice Hancock moved to Colbert in the early
1950’s. They were members of Colbert UMC until their deaths
– Dennis (1975), Eunice (1990).
Dennis was a very active member
of Colbert UMC and held several offices in the church while
Eunice was busy at home with their three wonderful children
– Billy, Betty, Gary. As the children became adults, they
married and now have families of their own.
Billy married a very special
lady - Blair Colson. They have a beautiful daughter Rebekah
who has now graduated from Madison County High School and is
working at Frame Design Gallery in Athens. Blair stays busy
with her Home Day Care and Billy is employed with Averitt
Express. They reside in Hull, GA and continue to be members
of Colbert UMC.
Betty
married a wonderful man Jay Staines and they have two lovely
daughters – Elizabeth and Victoria. Elizabeth is a sophomore
at UGA working on a degree in Biology. Victoria is a
freshman at North Oconee High School and is quite a tennis
player. Betty works for Athena Dental Association in Athens.
Jay is the President (CEO) of First Madison Bank & Trust.
The family resides in Athens, GA and are members of Emmanuel
Episcopal Church on Prince Avenue in Athens.
Gary is blessed with a beautiful
wife and children and they now reside in Carnesville. He is
employed with Tom’s Snack Foods. Like his brother, Billy,
Gary continues his membership with Colbert UMC.
This wonderful family that has deep roots with Colbert UMC
has presented the church with this marvelous musical
instrument in memory of their parents Dennis and Eunice
Hancock.
This amazing
musical instrument was dedicated on September 18, 2005,
which would have been the 60th wedding anniversary of Dennis
& Eunice. During the dedication NeeCee Delk-Hulsey, who also
grew up in this church, was present to give a musical
presentation to demonstrate the capabilities of this
instrument, as well as, to glorify God with the beautiful
music. NeeCee is married to Steve Hulsey, who is the social
worker for Madison County Schools. NeeCee is currently the
music director at Young Harris UMC and teaches piano at
home. They have two precious daughters, Helen and Abbey.
Helen is married to a wonderful man, Ron. Helen is employed
at City Salon & Spa in Athens. Abbey is six years old and is
home schooled. They are members of Young Harris UMC in
Athens, GA.
Jay, Betty, Victoria Staines and
Blair Hancock, as well as, NeeCee’s family were present for
the dedication. It was a very special day for all attending.
Our church accepts this very special gift with sincere and
heartfelt thanks. We promise to use it to honor and glorify
God.
