ABOUT
COLBERT U.M.C.
Colbert United Methodist Church
is dedicated to the glorification and worship of God.
Our Pastor, James Haralson, was born and reared in a
small town about an hour’s drive from the church. His
warmth and humor radiates throughout his sermons as he
gives insight to scripture and focus for Christians in
modern society. The worship service and music is
traditional. Colbert United Methodist Church puts
importance on Christian learning through Sunday School
and Bible Study during the week. There are many
opportunities to join ministries within the church,
which are always open to new members.
The Colbert United Methodist congregation is
multi-generational. There are opportunities for all ages
and life stages to become involved through study,
outreach and fellowship.
The congregation is committed to outreach into the
Colbert community, both on an individual basis and in
groups of volunteers. On a monthly basis, volunteers
plan and host Our Daily Bread for the needy at Oconee
Street United Methodist Church in Athens, Georgia. There
are many active ministries within Colbert U.M.C. that have
annual fundraisers such as the United Methodist Women’s
Christmas Bazaar in Colbert, and the United Methodist
Men’s annual peanut sales. The proceeds from these
fundraisers are used in different causes that benefit
the community and exalt God.
